After spending 2 billion dollars on player salaries over the past 8 years, and winning 7 consecutive divisional titles without a World Series win, the Dodgers finally ended the losing drought and became champions once again. They beat the Tampa rays 3-1 in the 6th game of the World Series, being led by Mookie Betts with 2 points and hitting a double. The 32 years of disappointment for the LA dodgers was finally put to rest and the team can no longer be labelled as the choke artists of baseball. This win was one to make up for the schemes of 2017 when the Dodgers lost to the Astros, who were later investigated and admitted to stealing signs the year of the World Series.
The MLB was full of unfortunate circumstances, cased by Covid-19, and game 6 of the series was even thrown off when Dodgers third baseman was removed from the game after a positive Covid test came back. Through al lof this adversity the Dodgers were able to push through and take the win, for the first time in 32 years. This reflected the dodgers dedication to the game but also proves the impact of acquiring Betts in a trade with the Red Sox in February. If the Dodgers had lost this game it would be the third fail in the World Series in 4 years for them. But as Roberts predicted after a big win against the braves, when he stood up declaring "this year is our year. This is our year" the Dodgers pulled through, and it was infact, their year.
