The Curse of Pompeii By: Emily Kruger

When the ancient site of Pompeii in classical Italy was buried in volcanic ash back in 79 AD, so much more than just buildings were burnt down in flames. Innocent people's lives were taken tragically, and legend has it that curses and all sorts of negative energy still overflow this land. A Canadian woman named Nicole, unfortunately, found this out the hard way. When she was in her early 20s, she took a trip to Pompeii, and took a few small rocks from the site, hoping to have a little piece of unique history. Little did she know, her theft of this site would impose bad luck upon her. For 15 years, a series of unfortunate events happened to her, including getting breast cancer twice.

Nicole is not alone with this mysterious bad luck from Pompeii. Many others send in anonymous packages to Pompeii, with relics from the site along with notes from people pleading guilt. All of these people have stolen artifacts and paid the price of bad luck. In these letters, people actually write prayers to God to forgive them.

It is intriguing how tangible items such as the rocks from Pompeii can hold energy that the human mind is incapable of comprehending. Wheater you believe this news article or not, it is fascinating to think beyond what our brains can understand, and try to comprehend something like bad luck being carried on. Also, it's nice to read about something other than Corona Virus for once!
