Too Much Sports Leads to Low Ratings

Every once in a while there is a sports phenomenon called the sports equinox when hockey, baseball, basketball, and football all play on the same day. Usually, these games receive very high ratings since this doesn't happen very often. This year it was brought to an extreme; when 12 different sporting events played all on the same day and these events all had low ratings. This is due to the effects of coronavirus and because of this gigantic load of sports these events received low viewer ratings.

This isn't the only sports event that received low ratings, this year NBA Finals received an all-time low rating; the lowest ever recorded. This was a special NBA Finals too because the Lakers win resulted in them tying the Celtics for more championships and LeBron James was playing. There were only 7.45 million viewers. The Stanley Cup Finals only had 2.03 million viewers which are the second least of all time. This year Kentucky Derby was the least-watched derby since 2000. This year's World Series had a 30% decline from last year's viewership. This is very interesting because a lot of people are still staying home and they aren't watching the surplus of games on after having sports taken away from us for so long.
