Why You Should Encourage Your Child to Believe in Santa- Caroline Mastandrea.

Many parents in this generation feel no need to insert a belief in things like Santa Clause, The Easter Bunny, The Toothfairy Etc. in their kids.  Instead, they feel as though they are protecting their kids from future disappointment by telling them the truth from the get-go. This is frowned upon by many people for multiple reasons, one being that other kids are the ones who usually ruin the fun about Santa, and no one wants their kid's heart to break like that. It is proven that believing in Santa Claus is a factor in a child's development along with the added drive for creativity, playfulness, and imagination. Waking up on Christmas morning on a race to the tree to see what Santa brought is a memory no child could forget. Although these memories wouldn't be lost, without there being a Santa Claus bringing the presents the whole experience is changed. Although it is tough to have to tell a child the truth at a later point in their life, it is important that they grow up with a sense of imagination and belief, let alone an extra bit of fun in December. When a child is ready to be told the truth it will happen or as many parents may say, they know it is time. But a definitive part of a kid's childhood is the excitement and happiness when losing a tooth and putting it under the bed, or leaving out cookies and milk for Santa. And these traditions should not be stolen from children because newer generations find it "babyish" or "child-like"

  2. I loved that you chose this topic to write about because I think it's really important that Santa is apart of all kids childhoods, especially in dark times like these.
