Our Modern Day Heroes

    The crazy year of 2020 has certainly brought us a lot. Maybe even too much. 2020 has caused some of us to need a lot of saving and it may not be from the people who we thought.  

    Social Media Influencers:

    We are in the age of technology and social media and I'm sure every single one of us can name a few social media influencers we like whether they're from Instagram, Youtube, or maybe even Tik Tok. Hundreds of people on these apps inspire others around the world every day. Although they might not directly know us, these people still have the ability to create content that in some cases can save people whether it be your life or just plain old boredom. Whether it's watching inspirational influencers or maybe even just your favorite YouTuber, I'm sure they have the ability to brighten your day and be an "online hero" to you.

Protestors:

    Along with the social media influencers also comes some of the protestors that stood up for what they believed in this year. A huge movement the world experienced was the Black lives Matter movement. Hundreds of protests were held around the world with thousands of people in attendance. So many people who took part in these protests knew that attending could be a risky situation but still decided to show up in order to spread light on the discrimination that occurs on a daily basis. Those people were there to make a change in the world that affected many, that is very much a heroic figure. 

Medical Workers:

    2020 has been an extremely busy and risky time for our medical workers. They have always been heroes in everyone's life but this year with the pandemic they deserve extra recognition. The medical workers spent long hours sacrificing their lives to take care of COVID patients. While most of the world quarantined safely at home, the medical workers left their loved ones and stepped up into the unknown of this virus. From the beginning of the lockdown to now, the medical workersd have not stopped working and fighting to protect us from this deadly virus. That is true courage in my book. 

Everyone's defintion of a hero differs. To you, there may have been tons of others who had a great influence on your life this year making them your hero. So many other figures in my life could be considered my heroes but these groups of people had an impact on thousands of individuals all over the world. They made a huge difference in or world which truly deserves acknowledgment.
