The definition of a hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. With everything that is going on in today's societies with Covid-19 does the definition really live up to what we think a hero is? 

So what is a hero right now? Well, a hero is really anyone you think that is doing the right things for the right reason, a hero could be a veteran, a president, a governor, or anyone you think has the qualities that make themselves go above and beyond. I think everyone has their own definitions of different things and a hero is one of those definitions that are pretty close to what we think but everyone still has a picture in their head of what they see when they think of a hero. For example, my hero could be a fictional character like Dom Torreto from the fast and furious saga because he did what he thought was best for his family he didn't tolerate people messing with his family and he would have done anything for them. Someone else could say Vin Diesel is a hero because how he portrays his characters and how he treats people in real life makes him a hero because he is an all-around good guy, we both have different ideas that make that person a hero but it all comes down to if that person thinks another is going above and beyond to make someone else believe they can do something they never believed they could do before. 

So yes the definition of a Hero is correct to today's terms but every individual has their own idea of what they think brings that hero all together and makes them who they are. That's why we think of them as such significant figures as we do. Hero's have many attributes that make them who we are and that is why no hero is the same we all have different things that make us unique and those hero's make those attributes known and that is why we think of them as such large influences in our lives.

A modern-day real-life hero is an essential worker they no matter what have to work to provide for the country and provide for their family so even though a hero can be any person we think of as a hero today's essential workers are one of many hero's I can think of that I am thankful to have in this world during this holiday season.
