Basketball By: Mason Munier

To some people basketball is just a game to play with friends or a channel to flip to when there is nothing else on TV. But to others it's an incredible sport that builds character and important qualities along with friendships that will last a lifetime.

I started playing basketball when I was 5. At first I just learned to dribble, pass and shoot and that was enough of a challenge. Then as I got older I was lucky enough to have an awesome coach who taught me the game and so much more. In third grade I became friends with some girls on my team. We talked a ton and all played very well together. Our first game in third grade we beat our opponent 62-2. That was when we knew we were going to be pretty good. Below is our first picture as a team in third grade.

We all grew up together spending 6 days a week in the gym practicing. To some that may seem like a chore, but we had so much fun together. Not everyone gets to play their favorite sport with their best friends almost everyday. We continued to grow together and let the game of basketball bring us closer. It started with so many fun basketball memories and that turned into hilarious memories and moments made outside of the sport.

Our first high school season together was a blast. It was great that we were all able to continue to play together. We played so well and accomplished so much. Basketball has become a huge part of our lives and something we look forward to every year. We've come such a long way and I'm so happy I got to do it with my best friends.
