My Parents by: Goldie Ancis

So many people, items, and memories come to mind when asked the question - What is most important to you? I can go on and on about my friends, hobbies, my dog, etc. However, the people that mean the absolute most to me are the ones who gave me life. My parents. Parents can be such special figures in everyone's life. They are there through it all, first steps, first words, graduations, even weddings! Since the day I was born, there has been an everlasting bond bringing my parents and I closer together with each and every moment.

It all started on May 6th, 1992, the day my parents met. A beatuful spring day in New York City at Hunter College, they were both there separateley with their friends when my dad spotted my mom. My dad was too nervous to go up to my mom, so he had to get his friend to do it for him. His friend got my mom's number and gave it to my dad. A few weeks later, my dad called and asked my mom out on a date and that's only how the journey began. It's funny looking back at that story now knowing my dad was so nervous to go up to my mom and if he never did, I wouldn't have been here. My parents married each other on January 1st, 1998, and have been such a strong and loving couple since. Later on, they had my brother Brandon, on June 4th, 1999, and then me on October 10th, 2004.

I consider my parents my biggest fans. I can't recall a single moment where my parents have not supported me. With every decision I have made thus far, they have been with me every step of the way cheering me on. They have only ever wanted the best for me and are so proud of all my accomplishments whether they are big or not. I know I can always come to them with anything at anytime. They will always be ready to help. At some points in my life, I may not agree with them but I know in the long run, the decisions they make for me are only to make me a better person. The sacrifices they have taken for our family will forever stick with me. For the past 16 years of my life, I could always trust and depend on them for everything. My parents have given me and my brother so many experiences, lessons, and the essentials in life. They are truly the best role models I could have beeen given.

I know so many people in this world who unfortunatley weren't blessed with kind and supporting parents and my heart breaks for them. The thought of not having my Mom and Dad makes my head spin, I don't know where or who I would be without them by my side. I couldn't be more lucky to have these two amazing figures in my life and I wouldn't give it up for the world.
