My Favorite Fast Food By: Sofia Ilardi

 

Almost every American loves some kind of fast food joint whether it's McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, etc. Every person has their favorite place as well as their go-to order. I would say that my family gets fast food once a week for lunch. Even though it's obviously not good for you, it tastes amazing and it's okay to have it once in a while. Today, I will be sharing my favorite fast food places and my typical orders. 

   Dairy Queen: Ice cream is one of the most popular dessert foods in the entire world no matter the time of year. Ice cream was determined to be America's favorite dessert by studies from Yahoo Foods. While I am not the biggest fan of sweets, I love ice cream, especially from Dairy Queen. 

Unfortunately, the Dairy Queen in Newton is not open all year round, so my family and I have to take advantage when it's open from March/April to November/December. No matter the ice cream place, I will always order something with soft-serve chocolate ice cream. Chocolate is my favorite flavor, and the only place where people can get soft serve is at an ice cream parlor. My go-to order at Dairy Queen is a soft chocolate sundae with chocolate syrup, strawberry sauce, and crushed peanuts. This may sound very sweet, however, I find it to be a good combination and have a very good flavor balance. If I'm not going to Dairy Queen I will keep it simple and order a soft chocolate cup with rainbow sprinkles. Overall, Dairy Queen has my favorite sundae ever, and I would order it every day if I could.

Chick Fil A: This is by far my favorite place to get fast food. There aren't many of them really close to us, so my family usually goes to the one in Morris Plains. I basically love everything that they have there including sandwiches, nuggets, fries, sauce, and even ice cubes. Last year when virtual school was starting, we would go to Chick Fil A every Tuesday after school was finished. The drive was on the longer side, and the line would usually last close to 30 minutes but it would always be well worth it. 

My typical Chick Fil A order is a spicy sandwich combo with a root beer. I will also get lots of mayonnaise and Chick Fil A sauce on the side for both the sandwich and fries. Sometimes when I want something different I will get lemonade or a milkshake which are also really good there. They also have the best ice cubes, and my family has actually ordered a 5-pound bag of their ice. The shape and the size just make them really good. Overall, when I actually want lunch or dinner, Chick Fil A would be my first choice if we had closer locations. While we, unfortunately, don't really have any local ones, my family and I are sure to stop whenever we see one.

Overview: Those were my top 2 favorite fast-food restaurants along with my orders. I've also tried southern franchises like In n Out, Shake Shake, and Canes, but have not had them enough to put them on this list. In general, I'm always pretty excited when we are getting fast food because it's just something different from the usual and a nice change of pace.
