My Little Adventure By: Miranda Smith

This past week, I got to escape from my hectic house and spend a week at my favorite place, Jekyll Island. It was a last minute decision, and those you don't already know, I suck at making last minute decisions. Actually, I can't make any decisions for the life of me. Yet, this time I made a decision in 15 minutes and wouldn't regret it for the life of me.
Every February, my grandparents rent a house down in Jekyll Island Georgia for a couple weeks. We usually go every summer we can with everyone in the family, but whoever can, goes down in February too. My family couldn't this year because my dad works and my mom teaches and can't quarantine so we just weren't going to go and we never talked about it. On Sunday, my aunt and one of my cousins FaceTimed us just to rub in they were driving down to the beach. I flipped my aunt off and she replied with just fly down and we will pick you up in Savannah. Not thinking it would actually happen, I hopped on the website to see if there were any flights I could go on. There was one flying out in about two hours and it got into Savannah right when they were driving through it. It couldn't have worked out better. I thought about what I'd be missing, and decided to go for it. My mom booked me for stand-by (thanks to my dad's very lucky flying benefits) and I packed my bag in 30 minutes.
Navigating the airport by myself was scary but it ended up being just fine. The timing couldn't have worked out any better. When I was going down the escalator my aunt and cousin walked in the doors. I then got to surprise my grandparents at the beach house. They didn't know I was coming and it was amazing getting to see them and their faces.
I'm so grateful for being able to go on a trip. I forgot about the craziness of the world playing games and walking on the beach with some of my family. Listening to music, walking on the beach, and bonding and catching up with my family was amazing and I'm so glad I decided to go. Maybe I should start not overthinking every decision and just go for it, cause maybe it will work out just like his one did.

Here are some pictures from the trip :)
