The Premier Destination after the Pandemic By: Jack Hill

After being confined to your home over the past year, are you looking for a vacation spot?  If you emphatically responded, "Yes" then look no farther than Grand Cayman!  Grand Cayman is 300 miles northwest of Jamaica and 360 miles south of Key West so air travel is approximately three hours from our area.  Since the island is a British Territory, a passport is required upon arrival and when you drive you have to make sure to drive on the left side of the road!  Even though Grand Cayman is only 22 miles long and 76 square miles there are still great things to do on this beautiful island!

The most famous tourist attraction is the Seven Mile Beach which is located on the West Coast of the island.  This beach is actually 6.3 miles long but is still known as the Seven Mile Beach.  There are many hotels directly on the beach which makes this a very popular beach for tourists.  Snorkeling is popular on this beach so you can rent snorkel gear and see plenty of beautiful reefs that are home to stunning aquatic organisms.  Don't worry, you don't have to be concerned about sharks!  In fact there has only been one shark attack on Grand Cayman ever and it was a result of a man spearfishing.  The man was attacked by a nurse shark which does not have the power to provide a lethal bite.  It has since been stated clearly on the web that sharks do not cruise around popular tourist spots like the Seven Mile Beach.  Now getting back to the fun!  The resorts have concierges on the beach where paddle boards, kayaks and jet skis can be rented.  In Grand Cayman you only need to be 16 years old to ride a jet ski.  Personally, I believe that this a must do attraction on the island because there is nothing better than going 50 miles per hour on a jet ski in sparkling blue water in steaming hot weather!

The last attraction I need to address is Sting Ray City.  If you love sting rays then this is the place to go.  Sting Ray City is a sandbar that is about three miles out from land.  The water is blue here and the sand is very soft.  You are probably wondering, how do I get to Sting Ray City if it is 3 miles away from land?  Sting Ray City can be reached by a boat ride or also by an exciting jet ski ride.  My day at Sting Ray City was one of my favorite moments on vacation ever!  On the jet ski you can fly as fast as you want on the dark blue water all in open ocean.  Upon arrival, tourists are allowed to swim and touch sting rays with the help of tour guides increasing your chances for interacting with the rays.  This is a cool place to not only interact with the sting rays but also to take a lot of cool pictures!
It has been a long year.  Why don't you reward yourself and your family and take a trip down south to the Caribbean to partake in activities and experience many things that you have not experienced before!  If you do visit Grand Cayman, it will be a trip that will never be forgotten.
